The piercing of the body has picked up speed in the recent decades. The teenagers and the grownups alike, in an attempt to look sexy, hip and cool, get their bodies pierced all over! What used to be just the nose piercing and ear piercing, has now spread all over the body from the forehead piercing to the piercing of the toes and everything included in between.
The more conservative cultures, as compared to the one in the West, have their belly buttons covered. Do boys have the belly button piercings? You bet! But it is a disgusting sight to look at a guy’s hairy belly pierced with 5 rings scattered on the belly all over! Guys, just keep away from belly piercing, it does not look cool or sexy on you!
The feminine body has a charm that the girls like to enhance and the beholders do not seem to mind at all. The girls apply makeups on the face, have their face parts pierced and still they all look pretty. Unfortunately, the girls seemed to have taken it a bit too far. The girls get their nipples, belly button, groin, their back, arms – you name it – pierced in an unending race to look more cool and sexy. Is this worth the risk at all?
What are the dangers of belly button piercing or body piercing in general?
Piercing of a body part involves a kind of needle or punch tool, that makes a hole in the skin. If the body piercing kit is not adequately sterilized, it can transfer serious infections and diseases like HIV. A simple body piercing for fun can become life threatening if sufficient hygiene and sterilization is not maintained. The people who are trained for body piercing, use professional quality body piercing kits that are for one time use. They take out a new set for use and dispose it off immediately after the body piercing is complete.
This brings us to the point of who is doing the belly button piercing? If you end up doing it yourself or have one of your friends do that to you, you would simply be inviting a lot of pain and trouble for yourself. If you have to get the belly button pierced, or any body part pierced for that matter, it is worth the pay the money and get it done professionally. An untrained person can damage the underlying nerve, a blood vessel or may just pierce the body at the wrong place! These risks are not worth taking.
Then it a matter of keeping hygiene and getting used to the piercing jewelry especially if it not on the nose or ears. The nose and ear piercings can still stay out of your daily movements, but the body piercings, like the belly button piercing or the nipples piercings or even the lip piercings, can obstruct your daily movements. As a result, the pierced place gets pressed or rubbed, or the jewelry can get pulled by clothes or movement, which can either delay the healing of the piercing or make it worse by starting an infection that becomes painful and hard to heal. Imagine the discomfort for the piercing that is always supposed to be covered when you are in public!
Piercings are permanent. If you do not wear the jewelry in the pierced hole, it may heal up after some months and the hole would close, but you might still be left with a scar at that place. Therefore, before you go for the piercing, make sure you really need it. If you are getting it done just to impress someone else, remember you would be stuck with it even when the person who you are trying to impress quits the relationship and leaves you alone. In that case, the piercing would bring back the painful memories every time you see it.
