Me Having An STD? Never!

Is it not often when we read about a news and then just forget about it or treat it as if the news is always meant to happen with someone else? Until when it really hits home.

We read about car accidents, plane crashes, earthquakes or other incidents when a few or many thousands of people get hurt or die. We read the news, sometimes sympathize with the victims and help them, but often just move on to reading the next news. The accidents or natural causes of destruction are not in our control. They happen and we can try to stay safe from them but may never be able to stop them from occurring.

However, there are things reported like teenagers contracting a sexually transmitted disease or getting pregnant. As a teen, I might think about the teens who get into trouble as kind of dumb. We tend to assume these things can would never happen to us.

Then one day you feel some irritation down there and you decide to visit the doctor only to be told that you have contracted an STD! It is now that you can be the subject of a news, that may not be printed in the newspapers or discussed about on the national television, but it might still be something everyone in your class or school knows about!

What went wrong in this picture? Assuming that bad things happen to the others only is like inviting trouble by lowering our own guards. The complacency and sometimes carelessness may end up making you the subject of a news. Therefore, before you get diagnosed by an STD or you end up being a teenage mother, it is important to observe the safety rules which unlike the accidents and the natural phenomena, is in your own hands. It is smart to be a hundred percent safe by abstaining from sex. There are stories of many readers on this site that can give you some thought before you think about having sexual relationships with someone during your teenage days.
